There are 250 possible questions that can be asked on the GENERAL KNOWLEDGE test. The GENERAL KNOWLEDGE test is the hardest test out of all of the five tests you can take beside the HAZMAT test, which is the hardest. If you fail you will not be able to retake the test on the same day, so you will have to make another trip. You will have one hour to complete the General Knowledge test, and will be allowed to miss only 10 questions before you have to start the process over again. The general knowledge test consists of 50 multiple choice questions, and a score of 80% (40 out of 50) or better is required to pass. In order to obtain a CLP (Commercial Learners Permit) which is the first step to getting a CDL, which you will need to operate any commercial vehicle, you will first have to take and pass the General Knowledge test. ![]()
